Information

How long will it take me to get an appointment at Peterborough Clinical Associates?

New clients are usually scheduled for a first appointment within 5 to 7 business days of their initial call, depending on their scheduling flexibility. PCA staff offer early morning, day time and evening appointments.

What should I expect at my first appointment with a PCA therapist?

PCA therapists routinely provide an initial evaluation at your first appointment. This includes clarifying the reason for your visit, as well as obtaining your personal, family, psychosocial and, when appropriate, marital history. This information helps your therapist understand you and your needs and formulate a set of treatment recommendations.

How does confidentiality work?

Discussions between clients and PCA staff are confidential as governed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). PCA cannot and will not release any information about a client’s treatment to any third party unless the client signs a release of information form. The only exception to this regulation, under mandate by the State of New Hampshire, concerns the suspicion or allegation of neglect and/or physical or sexual abuse of a child and/or dependent adult.

Will PCA staff coordinate my care with my Primary Care Physician or psychiatrist?

Yes. PCA believes in the value of coordinating care with other health professionals. Coordination of care can lead to better treatment outcomes. However, your PCA therapist will only engage in this activity with your expressed permission through a signed release of information form.
